60 km from the city of Puerto Maldonado (4 hours by boat of 55 HP). The lake is 15 km long, 800 meters wide and between 0.5 and 15 meters deep and is a privileged place due to the presence of trees and fish. Around it are trees such as pumaquiro, quinilla, cedar, lupuna, palm heart and chestnut.
Its fauna include wild turkeys, turtles (charapas and motelos), lizards, monkeys, cormorants and herons, among others. The richness of its waters allows both the native Huarayos settlers and the settlers settled in the vicinity to engage in fishing for maidens, palometas, dorado, piranhas and paiches, the latter, however, are not a native species but were introduced in the lake.
Along with fishing, another of the most important economic activities in the area is the gathering of chestnuts.
