About the place
Humantay derives from the Quechua prefix ‘Huma’ which means head, which would indicate that it is an important lagoon, since it could be the main source for the irrigation canals of agricultural areas located in the lowlands or a ceremonial place. The visit to this lagoon can be done during the trekking to the snowy Salkantay. However, it is also possible to visit it on a full day tour.
